Knowledge Sets are sequenced texts with assignments from Actively Learn to help you dive into a topic or learning objective with your students. There sets are designed to help students build their content knowledge on a topic and further develop critical reading and thinking skills. Use Knowledge Sets texts individually, or download them as a bundle.
We've also created guides for each Knowledge Set. These teaching guides are intended to help you immerse you students in a topic with suggestions for extended activities and discussion questions.
To see all of the Knowledge Sets available, click the "Knowledge Set" filter
Select a Knowledge Set to download the bundle, teaching guides or add individual texts to your Workspace.
Download the Knowledge Set Bundle
If you are planning to teach all of the texts in a Knowledge Set, then consider downloading the Knowledge Set Bundle. The Knowledge Set Bundle includes all of the text in the set merged together as a single assignment. This allows students to review previous texts and their responses to earlier questions as they progress through the set.
Use the table of contents in the bundle to navigate between each text
If you are on the Prim plan or higher, you can also hide certain text sections when assigning the bundle to students
Download Individual Texts
You can also download individual texts from a Knowledge Set.
For example, if a class is working on writing biographies, the teacher might decide to assign only the three middle texts in the "Suffragists, Scientists & Activists" set and have students write short biographies about one of the women after reading.
To download texts individually, just select the tile, and follow the usual steps to add it to your Workspace.
Download Teaching Guides
The Knowledge Sets Teaching Guides provide additional discussion questions and extension activities related to the topics and skills address in each set. These guides also explain how to introduce the set and the learning objectives of the embedded instructions.
