The "Fake News: Who's Responsible?" Knowledge Set is designed to promote media literacy and examine the responsibilities of individuals and technology companies for reducing fake news.
Target Grades & Subject(s): Grades 9-12; English-Language Arts
Students will examine arguments and compare and contrast different views regarding the role of technology companies to reduce fake news. (CCSS RI.8)
Using evidence and details from multiple sources, students will evaluate the impact of fake news and propose solutions. (CCSS RI.1, RI.2)
Before Teaching this Series
To introduce this set, ask students to define fake news. Ensure that students understand that fake news is false information that is reported about a person or event and that it is deliberately created to mislead people.
