This Knowledge Set is designed to help students explore causes and effects of extinctions and their impact on the evolution of species on Earth.
Target Grades & Subject(s): Grades 9-12; Science
- Students will cite specific textual evidence to support analysis of science and technical texts. (CCSS RI.1)
- Students will determine the central components of scientific texts to evaluate the effectiveness of different reading strategies when it comes to science. (CCSS RI.2)
- Students will communicate scientific information that common ancestry and biological evolution are supported by multiple lines of empirical evidence. (NGSS HS-LS4-1)
Before Teaching this Series
- Introduce this set to students by showing them this video, which describes the recent discovery of the largest dinosaur ever found.
