Full School/District Prime Plan
Schools or Districts on a full Prime plan, can integrate with OneRoster. The District's OneRoster Admin, manages users, classes, and rosters within OneRoster. Once the integration is set-up and ClassLink rostering is enabled within Actively Learn, the school's OneRoster data is synced with our local OneRoster database, and those classes and rosters would then be available for teachers to import into Actively Learn. OneRoster syncs nightly with our Actively Learn system, so updates in your school's OneRoster system should be reflected in your Actively Learn account the next day.
Our ClassLink rostering integration is on demand, meaning we don't pre-provision all classes and accounts. Rather, new teachers will need to launch from OneRoster into Actively Learn and create their account on the first login. Additionally, teachers will import the classes as needed into Actively Learn, and the rosters are imported at that time. Students will need to launch Actively Learn from within their OneRoster portal as well, and then they will automatically be placed into their classes.
Follow these steps to import OneRoster classes into your Actively Learn account:
STEP 1: Open the "Main Menu"
STEP 2: Click the "+" icon to add your classes
STEP 3: From the popup select select "Import classes from your District's SIS"
STEP 4: Check the classes you want to sync and click "Import"
FAQ:
Districts should contact our rostering team to complete the initial OneRoster setup. Districts' Primary Sales Reps and Rostering Reps will guide districts through the pricing and process of adding an integration.
Classes and rosters can sync from OneRoster into our Actively Learn system. However, assignments and grades do not sync from Actively Learn back to OneRoster.
Teachers will need to import their classes every semester. If you're a teacher seeing the incorrect roster and/or having students struggle to login and join your class, make sure your most recent classes have been imported into Actively Learn.
If your class has been imported from OneRoster, any roster updates, including removing and adding students, will need to be done in your district's SIS portal. That update will then sync over into Actively Learn during the nightly sync.
OneRoster classes will not have a class code, students will need to join by signing in directly through their OneRoster portal.
The data share between OneRoster and our Actively Learn database happens every night. There are two different types of data uploads: one is full upload and the other is called a delta upload. Delta uploads only update users in the file that is sent. Full uploads will remove all users and classes that are not in the file. Almost all issues regarding incorrect classes/rosters, or deleted classes/rosters, are a result of bad data from the file sync. If you're a teacher using OneRoster and seeing this issue, we would recommend reaching out to your District's OneRoster Admin, as well as the Actively Learn Support Team using the in-app chat.
