Actively Learn users can connect with McGraw Hill’s Google Classroom app to make classroom management easier. The app syncs assignments and grades between Actively Learn and your Google Classroom account — so everything stays up to date in one place.
Prerequisites for This Integration
If your school uses one of McGraw Hill’s auto-rostering methods, you’re eligible to use the Google Classroom integration. To check eligibility or get set up, reach out to your district's IT team — they can help schedule a call with McGraw Hill’s Digital Integration Services.
If your school is not set up to auto-roster, manual rostering methods will be available to you.
How to Use This Integration
1. Start by creating your Actively Learn classes in McGraw Hill's Open Learning platform using your school's auto-rostering method.
2. Next, create the same classes in Google Classroom.
These classes do not sync automatically between platforms. You'll create matching classes in both McGraw Hill and Google Classroom, then link them.
3. Open the Google Apps (waffle) menu and launch the "McGraw Hill K-12 for Google Classroom" app from the Classroom menu.
4. This will open a new window where you’ll see a list of your Google Classroom classes.
Each class will indicate whether it’s already paired or available to be paired. Click the “Pair” button next to the class you want to link with McGraw Hill.
This step begins the sync between Google Classroom and Actively Learn.
5. A pop-up window will appear showing your McGraw Hill classes.
Find the class that matches the selected Google Classroom section and click “Pair” again.
6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 until all your Google Classroom classes are paired with their corresponding McGraw Hill Actively Learn classes.
Note: Each Google Classroom class must be paired individually.
7. After pairing, you'll be taken to the synced class’s homepage.
From this page, you’ll be able to:
- Unpair
-
Add assignments
-
Sync assignments
-
Re-sync grades
Note: If a class has already been paired, you’ll see a “Launch Course” button instead of “Pair.” Clicking it will take you to the same class homepage.
The Google Classroom Assignment Sync Grade Passback
On the class homepage, users will see options to add assignments, sync assignments, and re-sync grades. Here's what each action does:
1. Add Assignments
Click “Create Actively Learn Assignments” to open the assignments page for this class in Actively Learn. From there, you can browse content and assign directly to your synced Google Classroom class.
2. Sync Assignments
Use this option to send any newly created or updated Actively Learn assignments to Google Classroom. This ensures your Google Classroom stays aligned with your Actively Learn content.
3. Re-sync Grades
If student scores have been updated in Actively Learn, use this option to push the latest grades to the corresponding assignments in Google Classroom.
