Teachers can assign students to small groups in their classes. These small groups help create a more informal atmosphere for student discussion. Small groups can be set up at the class level or assignment level. Class level settings will apply groups for all assignments in that class and assignment level settings will only apply groups for the selected assignment.
Important: Assignment settings will override class settings.
Access small group settings
Apply groups to all assignments in the class
From the Assignments page, under the class settings menu, select "small group settings"
Apply group settings to individual assignments
STEP 1: Select the assignment you wish to apply small groups to and open the assignment settings menu to select "small group settings."
Set small groups
- Select the desired number of groups
- Randomly assign groups
- Manually assign groups via a dropdown
